GRN: Using Personal Branding and the Web2.0

Starting a business is obviously as difficult as to maintain it. As a matter of fact, statistics show that about 9 out of 10 businesspersons fail in their business and with this known fact, a lot of people who would want to start up their own business are scared to actually start one. Of course, investing in a business means risking their hard earned savings and with a single mistake, one could lose everything once their business goes belly up.

According to most researches, however, the primary reason why people don’t start their business is that they have no funds to do so or they cannot get external funding from small business loans. Nowadays, however, in this world dominated by e-business, more opportunities are open for entrepreneurs as it is not possible to engage in home business. The Global Resorts Network is one such opportunity, and it needs less capital, too.

GRN (Global Resorts Network) is a business wherein affiliates would offer the client membership in a luxury resort membership enabling them unrestricted access and discounts to resorts and vacation packages maintained by GRN. Members of the network gets discount vacation packages which they could then resell at market prices, thereby earning them profit. Not to mention the fact that when a member refers someone to become a part of the network and that new member makes a sale, the referrer gets a commission from that sale. Sounds really simple, right?

Now, if you were to become an affiliate of the GRN, you will need to have your own website and your site needs to be popular. Personal branding is really important in this business. This means you will have to personally vouch for the effectiveness of the product you are selling, so in GRN’s case, you will need to tell people about your experience with them, and you will also need to show them figures to ensure that the system is really working. This is one way to get people to trust you and your business, and in effect, trust in the services of GRN. If you’re extremely lucky, you won’t only get sales but you can also have residual income from the sales of your referrals. In personal branding, your friends, other relatives and co-workers would recognize you and then they would see what you have in store for them. This process works the same as the snowball effect - people who know you tell people about your experience and then they vouch for you because of the times you’ve spent together, and so the process goes on.

Another way of marketing GRN is through Web 2.0. Actually this "phrase" still involves a lot of confusion but essentially means the new version of the World Wide Web which enables communities trying to build up sites which are rich in information. In general, this new term says that there is a network effect that is created with the contribution of each user and that is what GRN wants to happen. Through the sites which are Web 2.0, more information can be learnt about GRN and its services, some of it might be good, and others can be bad. But what’s important is that there are enough people who know about GRN and are able to see both sides of the same coin. Of course if GRN were to make its site that’s full of praises for their system, then there are more people who won’t trust them. With better communication in the Web 2.0 platform, people who have experienced business with them can share their reviews and help the Network make a better system for their business to improve.
